On A Very Good Day

by Richard John Scarr
(Brighton, East Sussex, England)

To lose one you love on Christ's Birthday.
At first, seems a heartbreaking thing.
However. When placed in perspective.
The privilege is quite plain to be seen.

In Heaven, there is great preparation.
For the Birthday of God's only son.
There are flowers and bunting in abundance.
As they prepare for a great day of fun.

But on Earth, those God chose as worthy.
Will learn, their time here is done.
And have, to their great joy, been invited
To celebrate with his chosen one.

Then In great party mood, they find waiting.
All those loved ones who'd journeyed ahead.
And yet again to their joy, they discover.
What a great life it is, to be dead!

But bestowing this honor, is not easy.
For so many are deserving of the same.
And God has the same task each season.
When Christmas day comes around once again.

But, having given close thought to his guest
list.
He selects of the best, suffice to say.
Then takes home the good people he's chosen.
To a very good place! On a very good day!
