Poem About Loved One Lost

by W. Jason Duncan
(Soddy Daisy, TN USA)

When I Close My Eyes

When I close my eyes
You are here
Your charisma, your cheer, your tenderness
I feel you here

When I close my eyes
You are with me
Your spirit, your beauty, your charm
I feel you with me

When I close my eyes
You are in my arms
Your warmth, your compassion, your love
I feel you in my arms

No matter how far apart
Nor what the circumstance
I feel you here with me, in my arms; always
When I close my eyes.

Jason, this is a beautiful poem. It speaks to how our loved one who has left us often shows up in our dreams. Susan

Thank you
by: Jason Duncan

Thank you for the kind words Susan. And Stacy, I apologize but I never saw your comment until now. I was in a dark place back then. I only write when compelled by emotion to write. I don't really have a genre or type of thing I write about specifically. I wrote this poem many years ago for reasons other than death. But, my Dad died in 2009 and I was trying to find something appropriate to say at his burial and found this one in my collection. This is a memory I actually put behind me, to be honest. I had forgotten posting the poem to this site. Although the pain has subsided over the years, the words of the poem still hold true to this day. I think of him often, but this time I think of the joy and warmth I used to have around him. I hope thay each of you, as well as anyone else perusing this site have or will come to that point in yourlives after the devastating effects of death. The most painful part of death is left for those who survive it. Peace be with you, and may your heart rest soon.

Poem for Loss of a Loved One: Love goes on

by May Fenn
(Hornchurch,Essex,England)

Love goes on

Death is not the end,
For love goes on
And you will find the evidence
Long after I have gone.
The flowers that we planted
Will blossom without end,
You’ll find me in their beauty
As to their needs you tend.
The books we read together,
The laughter in the pages,
Will continue to give pleasure
To you throughout the ages.
So do not mourn my passing
You are not left alone,
You’ll always find me waiting
In the places we have known.
The bond that grew between us
Will not abate with time,
It will go on for always,
I’m yours and you are mine.

This is beautiful Mary. Did you write it? Very, very nice. Susan

MY DARLING WIFE

by Richard J Scarr
(East Sussex, England)

God knew you'd reached your limits.
And had truly done your best.
To live by his Commandments.
And now was time for you to rest.

Though tired from your endeavours.
Still you tried to carry on.
Giving so much of yourself,
till all your strength was gone.

He knew that if he let you.
You'd keep going till you drop.
But good soul that you truly are.
It was time for you to stop.

He put his arms around you.
And in a gentle tone.
Said: "Though the earth be poorer for it.
Child! It's time I took you home."

My love, My husband

by Michelle Perez
(Zephyrhills FL, USA)

Flowers, Cards, Condolences
Is what I had today
It doesn't seem enough
For what I had to trade
I lost my One and Only
My Lover and My Friend
My Partner in Life
My "I'll love you to the End"
Well now the end has come
And I just can't take the pain
I feel like my hearts been tore apart
Been ran over by a train
Please be there awaiting
To take me by the hand
To lead me thru the pearly gates
To guide me thru God's land

My Husband

by Michelle Perez
(Zephyrhills FL, USA)

As the tears fall gently to the floor
you lay so still so calm so peaceful
The world still turns, The rooster still crows
The children still laugh
And I wonder what does this all mean
What does this all change
The bills are still due, Monday still sucks
and the mail is piling up
My sorrow envelopes me, taking its hold
I laid by your side, your skin was so cold
I search for the warmth,
Is it in your clothes, or the bed where we both laid
Is it in the pictures hanging on the wall
And then a little voice from behind me whispers
"Mommy I need your help"
and I found it, I found you,
you were always here with me
You live on in the children you gave me
And In our memories of the times we all shared
Together, Forever, Until we meet again

An Answer To My Prayers?

by Kerry Sugden
(Longview,Texas U.S.)

An Answer to My Prayers?
Written by Kerry Sugden in memory of my loving husband, "RON"

I'll never forget that dreadful day, we'd watch our lives unwind,
We never could have guessed at all, it was Cancer in him, they'd find.
All the doctors, all the treatments, and the miles we did travel,
All our efforts seemed in vain-as it continued to unravel.
.................

I know there'll be some sad times, I'll expect we'll shed a tear,
I look forward to an eternal-life, in "that" I feel no fear.
I would not choose to leave you now, but God made this choice for me,
I'm sure he knows what's best for us, in time we both shall see.
.................

Life's over b'fore we know it, it's really a short while,
To live life to it's fullest, and then go out in style.
Praying for a miracle, to happen in my life,
He's answered it already, he gave me you, my wife.
................

It's up to us to travel, the road that we've been given,
So, we can get busy dying or we can get busy living.
No one said it would be easy, and I'm certain that it's not,
But God is in my corner, and I'll give it all I got.
.................

I prayed for God to help us, when it put us to the test,
And watched as God gave up His bed, so you, my love, may rest.
I know I reached my lowest, in my search to understand,
God said, "this too, I'll get you through, just take my out-streched hand."
..................

I prayed for God to save you, and hoped your life he'd spare,
He did once more, what He does best, and answered my desperate prayer.
This was not what I expected, I questioned what He's done,
He knows just what I'm going through, He lost his only Son.
.................

Tragedies will happen and we'll question why they do,
It's all a part of God's great big plan and so are me and you.
When tragedy does find you, and tears your life apart,
God never leaves, He's stays right there, just deeper in your heart.
..................

When we reach beyond our troubled doors, and again we're on our way.
Just remember, God's always there for us, it's us that somehow stray.
So when this life has ended, and we begin a life of new,
It's God that got me to those gates and someday He'll walk me through.
...................

I pray that God forgives me, and pray that He still cares,
And do as only He knows best, and answer all my prayers.
Each day gets a little better, in my heart I miss you still,
But God knows where I'm coming from, and I guess He always will.
....................

I miss you & love you "with all my heart," may you rest in God's
arms, until we meet again.........

An Answer to my Prayers?
by: Anonymous

Simply beautiful. My heart aches for you. We lost our only son of 28 last oct. due to severe epilepsy. I really wonder how I will survive one more day without him everyday. My husband was also diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoia in April.
My faith is really being tested, but I know that it,
along with everyones prayers and support is all that's helping us too hold on. God Bless You...

In Loving Memory Of You

by Richard John Scarr
(East Sussex, Brighton, England.)

The attributes of you, my love.
That made the you I knew.
Create a beautiful epitaph,
In Memoriam of you.

With the serenity of Angel.
A nature sweet and quaint.
A heart of gold. A gentle soul,
and the aura of a Saint.

With values that never faultered.
And drew everyone to you.
Like me, who loved you at first sight.
Your friends all love you too.

They love you for simply what you were.
A friend both firm and true.
Faithful, and so dependable.
Like no one I ever knew.

You were one who only saw the best
in everyone you met.
Always ready to forgive.
And ready to forget.

You made each day worth living for.
And gave meaning to my life.
You were everything a spouse could be.
I was so proud you were my wife.

Through good and bad, you loved me.
A stalwart to the end.
You were my very life! My soul mate!
My love! My wife! My friend!
