Letter to Mum

Dear mum,
Its been three days since you left me i can not sleep or eat.
where did you rush too and who did you meet?
Today I made you cups of tea, bought you chocolates to sit and eat with me.
I hung your clothes up all clean and bright just in case you return in the late of night.
I call your name and wonder if you are calling mine oh
I wish I could see you just one last time, to hold you close and say goodbye and say I love you all the time
when god decides its time for me will you take my hand and comfort me,
Just wait for me mum you know where,,by the garden gate you were always there.

I lost my mum on Friday she’d lived with us 8 years so your words really resonated. Thank you very much x

letter to mom
by: debbie connolly

I wrote this poem/letter shortly after she passed, I had all these little verses come into my head each as lovely as the next. This one kept repeating so i wrote it down, it was the way I was feeling, expressing the pain and the loss I felt, the emptiness and the ache within me. But I hope that others will use my poem as Im sure if like me you still make extra tea or set an extra place for dinner, I hope that she will join me one day and that we can look at the flowers and drink tea together. love you mom.xxxx
