Death in the Family

by Jerry L Abrahamson
(De Smet, SD USA)

How are we supposed to act
When there is a death in the family
Do you just stop and break down
Or do you keep on going

Do you stop and call
To your family and friends
Or do you write down some lines
To remember them by

This is the question
That I'm facing today
And I'm shaken up
By the events that are happening

We Don't Understand

We don't understand
Why things happen the way they do
And why the people you seem closest to
Have the worst luck in life

Is there some great reason
Why these things have to happen
Or do we have to
Trust in some great power we don't understand

Dear Jerry
Thank you for sharing your heartache. I wish I could be like Tinkerbell and with a click of my wand, make your pain go away.

But this is the price we pay for love. Do let your friends and family help. Grief is not something anyone should try to do alone.

There's a full moon tonight. Some of us are gazing at it and thinking of you.
